UPDATED 1:50 pm: The wreckage has been cleared and traffic has resumed flowing.

1:00 pm: A woman has died and the Princes Highway remains closed south of the Sussex Inlet turn-off following a motor vehicle accident this morning (14 August).

Police said emergency services were called to the incident between Armchair and Twelve Mile roads at Jerrawangala at 6:25 am following reports that a car and a truck had collided.

The driver of the car, a woman believed to be aged in her 30s, was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, but she died at the scene. She is yet to be formally identified.

The driver of the truck has been taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers attached to the South Coast Police District established a crime scene and began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

The Princes Highway is expected to be closed for some time.

Motorists are advised to delay their trip or avoid the area, as no suitable diversion is available between Milton and Nowra. Visit www.livetraffic.com for updates.
