One dead, one seriously injured in Princes Hwy crash

Police are appealing for public assistance after a fatal crash on the South Coast this morning.

Just after 9 am, Thursday 28 October 2021, emergency services responded to reports of a black Lexus SUV crashing into a tree on the Princes Highway, Tilba Tilba, about 20 km north of Bermagui.

When emergency services arrived, they found the male driver had already died. He is yet to be formally identified.

A male passenger was trapped in the vehicle and emergency services immediately began work to free him. He is believed to have suffered serious injuries.

Four paramedic crews were sent to the scene as well as the Toll Air Ambulance Rescue Helicopter, which carries a critical care paramedic and doctor.

Officers from South Coast Police District have established a crime scene and have started an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

As inquiries continue, anyone with information or dash-cam footage from the area is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The Princes Highway is open in both directions, with alternating stop/slow traffic conditions in place. Please allow extra travel time and avoid the area if possible.
