A Michelago man has been charged with a raft of offences following investigations into alleged break-and-enters and thefts in the Queanbeyan area earlier this year.

Police alleged a person broke into a storage facility in Googong, stealing chainsaws, a hedge trimmer and other tools, between Saturday, 17 April, and Sunday, April 18.

It’s further alleged an ATV and trailer were stolen from a Captains Flat property between Wednesday, 4 May, and Thursday, 5 May.

The ATV was later found by police in June on a rural property northwest of Walgett.

As a result, a 31-year-old man has been issued a Court Attendance Notice for break, enter and steal, steal motor vehicle and steal trailer. He’s due to appear before Queanbeyan Local Court on 7 November.

“It is a timely reminder for landholders and other persons involved in the agricultural industry to record serial numbers of farm machinery and equipment,” Southern Zone Rural Crime Coordinator Detective Sergeant Mick Calleja said.

“This will ensure any stolen property that is recovered by police will be returned to the rightful owner.”
