Body found in search for man missing off Lennards Island

A body, believed to be that of a man reported missing from Eden, has been located.

Hang Xue, aged 20, was last seen on Lennards Island in the Beowa National Park, Eden, about 12:30 pm on Friday 26 April 2024.

When he could not be located or contacted, officers attached to South Coast Police District were notified and commenced enquiries into his whereabouts.

His family was concerned because Hang Xue was not fluent in English, and could not swim

Following extensive inquires including a multi-agency search operation with assistance of Marine Area Command, Marine Rescue, and SES, the body of a man was located 1.8 nautical miles north-east of Lennards Island, about 10:20 am on Saturday 27 April 2024.

A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
