Second body found following search for missing fishermen

A second body has been found after two fishermen were reported missing in the Snowy Mountains earlier this week.

After an extensive search, a body of a man was located at Eucumbene Dam at about 11 am on Sunday (10 September). The body of a man was found in the same location on Thursday (7 September).

At about 11:15 pm on Wednesday (6 September), officers from Monaro Police District were notified that two men from the ACT – both aged 73 – had not returned after fishing in Lake Eucumbene near Adaminaby.

Police, with assistance from the NSW Marine Area Command divers, NSW SES, Toll Ambulance Rescue Helicopter Service, Westpac helicopter, and Marine Rescue, commenced an extensive search of the waterway and nearby bushland.

The multi-agency search was suspended on Thursday afternoon due to poor weather, but resumed again on Friday.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
