Man dies in Snowy Mountains Highway crash near Adaminaby

A man has died following a single-vehicle crash outside Adaminaby this afternoon (24 April).

Emergency services were called to the Snowy Mountains Highway at Dry Plain – about 40 km northwest of Cooma – following reports of the crash.

Officers were told a truck had crashed and rolled, trapping the driver.

NSW Ambulance paramedics tried to save the man, but he died at the scene.

He’s yet to be formally identified but is believed to be aged aged in his 50s.

A crime scene has been established as police begin their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.

The highway has been closed between Bobeyan Road near Adaminaby and Middlingbank Road just north of the Rhine Falls area, with diversions expected to be in place for a number of hours.

Detours are available via Canberra and Tumut.
