A 41-year-old man has been arrested and taken to hospital under police guard after allegedly punching a man before ramming an ambulance and injuring two paramedics at Tuross Head on Sunday (25 October).
The rampage happened just before 11:30 pm on Sunday when the driver of a Toyota Landcruiser struck an unattended Kia Sedan parked in the driveway of a home on Coila Avenue at Tuross Head.
The occupant of the home, a 56-year-old man, came to investigate before the driver exited his utility and allegedly punched him in the face.
After returning to his vehicle, the man allegedly drove into an NSW Ambulance, before ramming it for a second time, causing significant front-end damage.
A female paramedic suffered a fractured arm, while a male paramedic sustained multiple rib fractures.
The paramedics, and the injured 56-year-old man, were treated at the scene before being taken to Moruya Hospital.
Officers from South Coast Police District attended and sighted the Toyota near Hector McWilliam Drive, however, attempts to stop the driver were unsuccessful.
A short time later, the vehicle was located on the Old Princes Highway at Turlinjah.
The 41-year-old male driver was arrested before being taken to hospital for mandatory testing under police guard.
He was subsequently released and taken to Batemans Bay Police Station where he was charged with dangerous driving, common assault, fail to stop and assist after impact cause injury, not stopping a vehicle when directed to do so and two counts of failing to exchange particulars.
The man was refused bail to appear in Batemans Bay Local Court today (27 October).
Investigations are continuing.
