Elderly woman killed in Grenfell crash

A woman has died following a crash on the Mid-Western Highway near Grenfell.

Emergency services received reports a car had left the road and hit a tree at about 5:10 pm on Sunday (4 September).

When police arrived, they found a Toyota Camry sedan had crashed into a large gum tree.

The 80-year-old female driver, who was also the only person inside the car, died at the scene.

An investigation has begun into the circumstances surrounding the crash, with a report to be prepared for the coroner.

Police have appealed for any witnesses or those with dashcam footage of the incident to contact Young Police Station on 6382 8199 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
