Driver charged following serious crash near Goulburn

A Goulburn man will appear in court next month after a serious single-vehicle crash near the Wakefield Park raceway on 25 September.

About 1:30 pm on Saturday 25 September 2021, emergency services responded to reports of a serious single-vehicle crash on Braidwood Road, Tirrannaville, about 8km south of Goulburn.

Officers attached to The Hume Police District attended and found the driver, a 24-year-old man, trapped inside a white Toyota HiAce van, which had sustained extensive damage.

The man was extricated by emergency services and airlifted to Canberra Hospital in a serious condition. He has since been released.

Local police established a crime scene and, with assistance from the Southern Region Crash Investigation Unit, commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following extensive inquiries, the 24-year-old driver was arrested at Goulburn Police Station about 3 pm on Sunday 3 October 2021.

He was subsequently charged with five offences comprising; dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm (drive manner dangerous), negligent driving (occasion grievous bodily harm), drive vehicle under the influence of alcohol, never licensed person drive vehicle on road and take and drive conveyance without consent of owner.

He was granted strict conditional bail to appear in Goulburn Local Court on Wednesday 17 November 2021.
