UPDATED Woman dies, man injured after ute hits tree near Junee

UPDATE 1:00 pm, 2 June 2020: A 23-year-old man was arrested at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital at about 5:00 pm yesterday (1 June 2020) and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station in relation to the single-car fatality at Junee.

The man was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, dangerous driving, driver a motor vehicle while disqualified, negligent driving occasioning death, contravening an apprehended violence order and breaching bail conditions.

He was refused bail to appear before Wagga Wagga Local Court today.

3:00 pm, 1 June 2020: A woman has died and a man has been injured after a single-vehicle crash in the Riverina at the weekend.

Emergency services were called to Pattersons Road, Harefield, about 12 km south of Junee, after a Hilux utility left the road and hit a tree about 4:45 pm on Sunday, May 31.

A 37-year-old woman died at the scene while a 23-year-old man was taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital with suspected chest and arm injuries. Both are from Junee.

Inquiries are continuing by officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit.
