There’s plenty to see and do in the regions in the next few days, with a packed schedule of art shows, food festivals, live music tributes and more – you’re not starved for options.

Multiple Days

Sculpture Bermagui

When: 7 to 13 March
Where: 1 Lamont Street, Bermagui
Cost: Free.

Sculpture Bermagui grows stronger by the year, sustaining a record level of entries, and securing renowned sculptor David Jensz as judge of the major prize.

Sculpture Bermagui will see the headland studded with 86 outstanding sculptures under the eyes of Mount Gulaga and against the backdrop of the sparkling sapphire waters of Horseshoe Bay.

A further 117 sculptures will be exhibited at the Bermagui Surf Club and at Shop 7 at Bermagui Fishermen’s Wharf.

Foodies from Canberra and Victoria will be flocking to Merimbula for the EAT Festival on their long weekend.

On Sunday 9 March, the EAT Festival showcases and celebrates the amazing range and quality of Sapphire Coast produce, spanning pork, beef, dairy, eggs, vegetables, wine, beer, gin, vodka, and, of course, oysters and seafood.

There are a variety of events across the multi-day festival such as a gin school and oyster shucking classes, but the main event is the Sunday festival.

The festival on Sunday is free and the entree-sized tasting plates are capped at $15, making it an accessible and memorable day out for everyone.

Cooma Show

When: 7 and 8 March, gates open at 8 am
Where: Cooma Showground
Cost: Tickets from $6; see website for more information.

Agriculture, local talent and entertainment return to town as the Cooma Show celebrates its 150th year. It’s got all the show classics you’d expect such as woodchop, cattle and sheep as well as market/food stalls, a cinema and so much more. The day will even finish off with a fireworks show at 9 pm to celebrate the longevity of the Cooma Show – don’t miss out.

Fungi – The Third Kingdom at Crisp Galleries

When: 8 and 9 March, 11 am to 4 pm
Where: 28234 Hume Highway, Bowning
Cost: Free.

More than 80 ceramic sculptures and related works await at the Crisp Galleries, set in the grounds of beautiful gardens that featured in Vogue Australia. It’s the last weekend of this special ceramics art show, so don’t miss out on your final opportunity to see the works on display.

Get Rhythm – Johnny Cash and June Carter Show

When: 7 March, 8 to 10 pm
Where: 163 Auburn Street, Goulburn
Cost: Tickets from $62.

Get Rhythm brings an authentic and nostalgic Johnny Cash experience to fans all across the country and this Friday they’re coming to Goulburn. Get Rhythm has earned broad acclaim with the show’s uncanny resemblance to the famous pair, live band sound and energetic tribute to one of the greatest musicians of the 20th century. If you’re a fan of the man in black, don’t miss this musical event or you’re gonna cry, cry, cry.

Patches Asphalt Queanbeyan Rodeo

When: 8 March, 11 am
Where: Patches Asphalt Queanbeyan Rodeo, Glebe Avenue, Queanbeyan
Cost: Tickets $25 – 50.

The Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council community event of the year returns with heaps of events and activities to get excited about. Bull rides, bulldogging, saddle bronc, bareback, barrel racing, kids’ activities and food and drink stalls are sure to keep you going all day and it’s all for a good cause, as the rodeo raises money for numerous charities and community organisations.

Sunday

Sunrise Breath, Sound & Swim

When: 9 March, 6 to 8 am
Where: Corrigan’s Beach, Batemans Bay
Cost: Tickets $40.

Relax, re-enter and rejuvenate at Corrigans Beach with a guided breathing and meditation session led by three guides. There’s no better way to put the mind and the body at peace than practising mindfulness within earshot of the crashing waves at Batemans Bay.

Creative Mark Making

Experiment with and learn new techniques in drawing and collage at Art Central in Moruya. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or a complete amateur, all are welcome to expand and hone their abilities together.
