In the wonderful town of Binda lies ‘The Old Rectory’, a historic property that’s looking to start a new chapter

107 Queen Street in Binda (near Crookwell) is a landmark residence, originally built around 1873. This recently renovated home began life as a rectory and church hall used and owned by the Anglican church in the area.

Sitting on 1.8 acres of land, this now four-bedroom, two-bathroom homestead features reverse-cycle air conditioning, slow combustion wood heaters, high ceilings, timber floors, exposed original stonework and much more to enchant.

Ray White real estate agent Justin Gay said the home is brimming with character.

“One of my favourite things about the home is its original features, like the stonework. They add so much character and appeal to the home,” he said.

“It’s also had a fantastic reno done by the current owners. They’ve done a great job making this place what it is now.”

Making your way into the home, you’ll immediately notice the home’s original timber floors and the high ceilings that can be found throughout the home.

Towards the back of the home is the home’s lounge. This large living area has a slow combustion wood fireplace and views over the back patio.

The formal dining room is found adjacent to the lounge, featuring another slow combustion fireplace.

The kitchen is very spacious with stainless steel appliances and ample bench and storage space. The kitchen is also north-facing and brings your attention to a mix of the old and new throughout the home.

Bedrooms can be found toward the front of the home, with the master featuring an ensuite and a large walk-in robe.

Upstairs is space for a rumpus room or a fifth bedroom. The room was created in the void in the roof cavity.

Justin said the home is in a great position.

“The home sits on a huge, flat and elevated block meaning you can see almost across it and get some good views of the surrounding areas,” he said.

Moving outside, you’ll find a large patio and a barbeque area alongside a well-fenced yard that’s perfect for kids and pets.

Out the back, there’s an old hall that has limitless possibilities – and also features a kitchenette.

You’ll be hard-pressed to find a home with more character than ‘The Old Rectory’. The home will be open for inspection this Saturday (1 October) from 3 pm to 3:30 pm.
