A skydiver ended up stuck in a tree following a jump in Moruya yesterday.
A Fire and Rescue NSW spokesperson said the incident happened on Tuesday (15 October).
“The skydiver found himself hanging upside down, stuck in the tree, around 40 metres off the ground near the Moruya Airport,” they said.
“The man manoeuvred himself into a fork of the tree where he then turned himself upright.”
Rescuing the man was a joint effort, with crews and personnel from Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW Police, NSW Ambulance, State Emergency Service and NSW Rural Fire Service attending the scene.
In the two-and-a-half-hour rescue, an arborist from the skydiving company accessed the man by climbing above him and attaching ropes to him.
Fire and Rescue NSW crews were then able to lower him to the ground.
While the man was uninjured, Tuesday’s incident is the latest to occur at Moruya involving skydivers.
Earlier this year, a 48-year-old skydiver landed heavily and was airlifted to Canberra Hospital in a critical condition in an unrelated incident. He died in hospital a day after his jump.
