UPDATE: 2:20 pm, 27 April – Police divers believe they have located the body of a man who went missing while swimming in the Snowy River on Monday (25 April).
Just before 9 am, the body was found in waters about 500 metres downstream from where the 56-year-old was last seen.
While the body is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of the missing man.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
Monaro Police, NSW Ambulance, Fire and Rescue NSW and Swift Water Rescue-trained SES members, along with a drone, have spent the past three days searching for the man.
10:30 am, 26 April – A search has resumed today for a 56-year-old man who went missing while swimming in the Snowy River yesterday (25 April).
Police were told the man entered the river at about 11:45 am on Monday, upstream of the weir at Dalgety which is 35 kilometres west of Jindabyne, before witnesses lost sight of him.
When the man did not return to shore, emergency services were contacted.
Monaro Police, NSW Ambulance, Fire and Rescue NSW and Swift Water Rescue-trained SES members began searching for the man with the assistance of a drone, but without success.
NSWPF PolAir Helicopter and police divers arrived on scene shortly before 6 pm that night, and searched until 7 pm before the rescue effort was suspended.
