Get ready for this Saturday, as Australian music legends converge on the Wolumla Recreation Ground for the Band Together 2 Music Festival.
In a last minute change to the lineup, nineties band Killing Heidi will no longer be able to make it to the Sapphire Coast, but Australian rock legend Ross Wilson has joined the sensational program.
From Daddy Cool to Mondo Rock and now as a solo artist, Ross Wilson has no less than 26 ARIA Top 40 hits to his name as a singer, songwriter and producer. He is one of Australia’s most awarded, respected and well-known artists.
Band Together 2, comes after last year’s phenomenal experience at Sapphire Coast Turf Club in aid of those impacted by the Tathra and District Bushfire. In 2019 the event will raise money for the Bega Valley Disaster Relief Fund and the Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter.
Aside from Ross Wilson, the line up boasts the Australian Rock Collective (ARC). ARC members share a passion for rock and roll that also spans decades and features members of legendary bands Spiderbait, Jet, Powderfinger, You Am I and The Wrights.
Also performing are Australian music icons and new wave/pop rock funsters Mental As Anything. Their top ten singles are perennial favourites – If You Leave Me, Can I Come Too? and Too Many Times, Live It Up and The Nips Are Getting Bigger.
Bachelor Girl and Imogen Clark will grace the Wolumla stage, and throughout the afternoon an array of local talent will rock your socks.
Local artists include BIILMANN, Erin McMahon, Ricky Bloomfield, Chelsy Atkins, Matt Glass & The Loose Cannons, Cuppa Shred, Chris O’Donnell, and beloved Bega super-group The Figmentz!
There will be plenty of tasty food and bar vendors with Sapphire Coast Eats, Sea 2 You Seafood, the Kebab Queen and many others, so just jump on the bus and enjoy the festivities.
“This year we have an exclusive VIP ticket option which includes your own private bar facility, a private marquee, specialised food catering, VIP parking, VIP laminate and a premier stage view,” says Darren Jones of Jam Events.
“A great idea for your work Christmas party perhaps? Or a worthwhile present for someone who has everything?”
While we are talking tickets, you need to know a couple of things – kids under 12 get in for free! And a safe space, or Kids Zone, will feature face painting, temporary tattoos, jumping castles, Bubble Soccer presented by Far South Coast PCYC – all free for the kids to enjoy.
Another thing you need to ‘not’ think about is driving! The crew at Band Together have made transport easy, with regular shuttle coaches bringing you to the concert and back to town again, from Pambula to Candelo to Qaama and everywhere in between, check the timetable HERE.
“We are proud that a percentage of profits from the day will be donated to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and the new Bega Valley Disaster Relief Fund, an initiative we put to council immediately after the Band Together concert last year,” Darren says.
“The Band Together concerts are committed to providing immediate and ongoing support each year for those affected by disaster in the Bega Valley.”
“Thanks to Mayor Kristy McBain and the Bega Valley Shire Council for forming this fund. Anyone in the Bega Valley may need to ask for help one day, and our aim is that every year, with a concert, we tip some money into that bucket.”
