UPDATE: Police now say two paramedics were injured in today’s fatal accident on the NSW South Coast. Both are in Canberra Hospital in a stable condition.
One patient and the patient’s family member were taken to Moruya Hospital by road for assessment. No further details about the man who died in the two-car collision have been released.
5:30 PM: A man has died and a paramedic has been airlifted to hospital after a collision about eight kilometres south of Bodalla on the NSW South Coast.
The accident happened at about 1:40 pm on Thursday (25 May), when a car and a NSW Ambulance van collided.
A NSW Police spokesperson said a male driver died at the scene.
“He has not been formally identified but is believed to be aged in his 30s,” the spokesperson said.
NSW Police said a NSW Ambulance paramedic had been airlifted to Canberra Hospital and was in a serious condition.
A patient in the back of the ambulance van suffered minor injuries.
“Officers from South Coast Police District established a crime scene, with the Crash Investigation Unit to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash,” the spokesperson said.
The Princes Highway was closed between Whittaker’s Creek and Brou Tip but one lane is now open.
According to Live Traffic NSW, alternating traffic conditions are in effect and motorists are being asked to leave extra travel time.
