62-year-old man dies from injuries after crash in Tumut

A 62-year-old man has died in hospital following a car crash in Tumut.

A NSW Police spokesperson said the man died in hospital on Tuesday (16 January), where he had been receiving treatment after a car crash late last year.

“About 9 am [on] Wednesday 27 December 2023, emergency services were called to Lambie Street, Tumut, following reports of a single-vehicle crash,” they said.

Officers attached to Riverina Police District arrived to find a utility had hit a power pole.

The 62-year-old was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital in a stable condition.

He was airlifted to St George Hospital in Sydney on 28 December after his condition began to deteriorate.

Police have opened an investigation into the cause of the crash and a report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
