Man flown to hospital following highway crash near Berridale

A man has been flown to Canberra Hospital in a serious condition following a two-vehicle collision on Kosciuszko Road north of Berridale.

At about 7 am on Sunday (31 July), emergency services responded to reports of a crash on the highway near Rocky Plain Road in the locality of Cootralantra.

Police were told a 29-year-old man was travelling northbound when his vehicle veered onto the wrong side of the road, colliding with a southbound vehicle.

The man was trapped in his vehicle with serious head and leg injuries before he was freed and airlifted to Canberra Hospital.

The four occupants of the other vehicle – three women aged 28, 26 and 22, and a 25-year-old man – were taken to Cooma Hospital for observation.

An investigation has been launched into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Police have urged anyone with information or dashcam footage of the crash to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
