A man has been charged with several offences relating to an alleged shooting in Oaks Estate earlier this year, but his car has still not been found.

ACT Policing say a 20-year-old Karabar man drove an orange Nissan Micra near a man and a woman who were walking on George Street in Oaks Estate at about 12:20 am on 1 May 2024.

The Karabar man allegedly exited the vehicle and fired a single shot at the man. Police believe he was known to the 20-year-old.

However, the 20-year-old’s orange Nissan Micra has not been found, and police are asking for anyone with information about the car’s location to come forward.

The Nissan has a number of distinctive stickers on the rear and sides of the vehicle and also has extensive hail damage.

ACT Policing said the vehicle is not currently displaying registration plates.

The 20-year-old man was located and subsequently arrested by NSW Police on the evening of 1 May. He was then extradited to the ACT.

The 20-year-old man has since been charged with several offences, including unauthorised possession and use of a firearm, discharging a firearm in a public place, discharging a firearm endangering life, and causing grievous bodily harm.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the car is urged to contact Crime Stoppers by calling 1800 333 000 or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Please quote reference number 7737538. Information can be provided anonymously.
