Elderly woman dies following Monteagle crash

Four days after a tragic single-vehicle accident in the Riverina, a 91-year-old woman has died in hospital.

About 8:45 am on Wednesday 31 January 2024, emergency services were called to Iandra Road, Monteagle, about 15 kms north of Young, after reports of a single-vehicle crash.

Police were told a Toyota Corolla had left the roadway and crashed into a tree.

The driver – and sole occupant – a 91-year-old woman – sustained serious internal injuries and was airlifted to Canberra Hospital.

On Sunday 4 February 2024, police were notified that the woman had died at Canberra Hospital.

As inquiries continue, anyone with information or who has dash cam footage is urged to contact Young Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
