Elderly woman dies after head-on crash at Narooma

An elderly woman has died after a head-on collision with another car in Narooma yesterday.

NSW Police said emergency services were called to the scene on the Princes Highway, which runs through the South Coast town, around 12:15 pm on Thursday (30 March).

A Volkswagen Jetta and a Toyota HiAce van had collided head-on, police said.

The driver of the VW, an 81-year-old woman, was trapped for a short time. While she was freed by emergency services and treated by paramedics, sadly she died at the scene.

The Toyota’s driver, a 42-year-old man, was airlifted to Canberra Hospital with leg fractures.

Police established a crime scene and have begun investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. A report will be prepared for the coroner.
