Canberrans travelling to the NSW South Coast on the Kings Highway could face delays from next week.
Between Monday, 15 February, and Friday, 14 May, Transport for NSW will carry out safety improvements along a 1.9km section of the highway at Currowan, west of Nelligen.
Traffic control and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h for a single lane closure will be in place between 7 am and 6 pm on weekdays during that period.
This is one of many delays motorists travelling between Canberra and Batemans Bay have had to navigate since October 2020, when maintenance and repair work began on the Kings Highway, at Clyde Mountain. Work on the highway then moved south to Nelligen in November.
This time, improvements will include shoulder widening and improved guttering, road resealing, widened centrelines and the installation of audio-tactile line marking.
Motorists can expect an additional travel time of up to five minutes, and they are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
