A busy 24 hours for Far South Coast firefighters with crews from Moruya to Eden responding to emergency calls.
A house fire at Broulee minutes before midnight Tuesday (November 5) has resulted in extensive damage.
Fire and Rescue Moruya were first to arrive and were confronted with a garage and car parked inside fully alight.
“There was also heavy smoke showing from eves all around the house,” a spokesperson reports.
“Crews donned BA [breathing apparatus] and attacked the fire initially from the outside until power was switched off, then crews went to internal attack.
“The fire was brought under control after a period of time, unfortunately the house suffered severe smoke and heat damage.
“Crews were assisted with RFS from Broulee, Moruya and Malua Bay and also RP217 Fire and Rescue from Batemans Bay, with RV384 assigned to provide hot freshments and firefighter welfare.
“Thankfully all occupants were safely out of the house on our arrival.
“Thank you to NSW Ambulance for being on scene for firefighter safety and NSW Police for scene security.
“Thanks also to T398 from Narooma for providing town coverage in Moruya while we were at this incident.”
Earlier on the same day (4:47 am November 5) Fire and Rescue Eden were called to a motor vehicle fire at Lakeside Drive Eden.
“The fire was contained to the vehicle with extensive damage. Eden Police are investigating the incident, in the afternoon FRNSW Eden was call to the incident again to assist with Police forensic officers in the investigation of this incident,” a spokesperson says.
