Nine things to do in the region this week (4 – 10 March)

There’s plenty to do around the region this week, especially if you love the arts and entertainment. The 142nd Goulburn Show is on, there’s a Shakespeare play in the Botanic Gardens and a comedy night in Batemans Bay, and live music from the regions in Braidwood.

Clean Up Australia Day takes place this Saturday and following is the monthly Hartley Hall Markets and a car show in Queanbeyan on Sunday.

Early next week, International Women’s Day celebrations are set to take place in Moruya, as well as the Moruya trade and construction breakfast.

The Goulburn Show

This weekend, the Goulburn Show returns for its 142nd year providing great entertainment and showcasing its best local talent among the community of Goulburn. The family-friendly event will feature lots of rides, showbags, local and international food stalls, market stalls, animal nurseries and agricultural exhibits, show jumping, sheep herding, pig racing and more.

As You Like It- by William Shakespeare in the Garden

From this Saturday night, the Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Gardens, opens its curtains to another Shakespeare in the Garden performance – As You Like It. As Essential Theatre’s 20th anniversary season of Shakespeare in the Garden, the play brings Shakespeare’s best ideas together into a play about love, betrayal and mischief, while performing some of his most well-known and iconic lines.

Stand-up comedy night featuring Al Del Bene & Daniel Townes

Wollongong Comedy invites everyone to come and have a laugh at the Batemans Bay Soldiers Cub this weekend as it presents a fun night of comedy brought to you by two headlining, world-class comedians, Al Del Bene & Daniel Townes, guaranteed to have you in stitches.

Music In The Regions – Acacia Quartet in Braidwood

Join the Acacia Quartet at the National Theatre in Braidwood for an afternoon filled with classical music. The program consists of Bach Cello Suite, interwoven with companion pieces, Mozart- String Quartet no. 15 in D Minor, KV421 Borodin- String Quartet no. 2 and the Acacia Quartet with a guest performance by cellist, Rachel Johnston.

Shannons Wheels

This Sunday, the Council of ACT Motor Clubs in association with the Canberra Antique and Classic Motor Club presents the 40th anniversary of the annual vehicle display – Shannons Wheels. Since its first event, the car show has raised more than $400,000 for local charities. This weekend’s car displays will feature vintage and classic vehicles with appearances from more than 70 vehicle clubs from Canberra and surrounding regions.

Clean Up Australia Day

This Sunday, the Goulburn community unites to ‘step up to clean up’ for Clean Up Australia Day. As a nationwide event, Goulburn encourages everybody to volunteer their time and contribute by cleaning public areas around the town. This initiative will help create a cleaner Goulburn, alongside the support of the Goulburn Mulwaree Council. It is recommended to bring your own gloves, bags and appropriate footwear, as limited supply will be available.

Hartley Hall Markets

Come and celebrate International Women’s Day at the #BreaktheBias networking event in Moruya. It will feature many guest speakers discussing empowerment, leadership and women’s equality, while drawing upon creating a bias-free world that embraces diversity, breaks stereotypes and celebrates differences. Scientist and former NASA director, Professor Miriam Baltuck, will also be attending the event and speak about her career in science and all of her amazing accomplishments, including going to the mountains of Greece and leading a NASA deep-space mission.

As part of NSW’s small business month, with 888 trade and construction related businesses in Eurobodalla, the community of Moruya invites anyone and everyone who works in the industry to come along for a free breakfast and chat about exciting projects and developments taking place around the region.
