A three-bedroom home at Manyana on the South Coast has been the topic of hot discussion ahead of its auction on 12 April.
The home at 14 The Wheelhouse, Manyana, features a unique ‘open plan’ master bedroom offering a shower, clawfoot bath, vanity and loo at the foot of the bed.
While the design concept works in many modern homes, online discussion has focused on the size of the room and the proximity of the bed to the wet area.
Selling agent Brendan Shipp from McGrath Ulladulla, said the home had created a lot of interest due to its unique bedroom, but he didn’t think it would stop the home fetching over a million dollars at auction.
He said that while he’d sold some unique homes in the past, this was one of the most unusual bedrooms he had seen.
“It was designed as an open plan master bedroom and was part of a whole home renovation,” he said.
“The renovation is 90 per cent complete, but the owners didn’t finish off the master suite.
“We’ve had a lot of interest in the property and some people say it works, while others say they’d pull it out and start from scratch.”
Brendan said the owners had been married for 25 years and had “seen everything” so didn’t mind lying in bed while their partner took a bath or used the loo.
Their plan was to erect a glass petition between the wet area and the bed, and Brendan said the buyers would have an opportunity to do that or add a wall.
The two-storey home is on a 556 square metre block and is a classic Manyana beach house, with verandahs front and back, fresh and airy open plan living areas and plenty of storage downstairs for the boat and beach toys.
It’s just a short stroll down to the beach and the home offers views over Green Island, a popular surfing spot.
Brendan said the property was the perfect family home or holiday retreat, with celling fans, laminate flooring in the living areas and a fenced backyard.
With a price guide of $1,000,050, 14 The Wheelhouse, Manyana will be auctioned online on Wednesday 12 April.
