Tucked away beneath towering ironbarks and spotted gums that hug the nearby shoreline, 48 Tranquil Bay Place is a unique retreat on the Eurobodalla south coast.
Affectionately named ‘Rosedale House’, this four-bedroom, three-bathroom residence sits on an expansive 1733 square metre block between Rosedale and Guerilla Bay.
Rosedale House was designed by renowned architect Bert Read and carefully constructed by South Coast master builders Smith and Primmer.
The entire property underwent an award-winning renovation in 2013 to preserve and add to original features.
The retreat brings together a series of six pods connected by solid hardwood decking. Guests aren’t just surrounded by coastal forest here – they’re completely immersed in it.

Rosedale House is defined by thoughtful architecture, master craftsmanship and gorgeous natural surroundings.
Sales agent Pat Jameson describes the property as a living, breathing work of art.
“Rosedale House is an irreplaceable testament to design excellence,” she says.
“My favourite space is the main living pod, which hosts the open-plan living, dining and kitchen under vaulted timber ceilings.
“In the centre is a cosy fireplace, with a ladder running up the chimney to the very special mezzanine library.”

Rosedale House’s stylish kitchen was further renovated in 2024, showcasing premium Miele appliances, Corian benchtops and handcrafted Wathaurong Glass splashbacks.
The laundry and main bedroom ensuite were also extensively upgraded in 2024.
Three of the smaller pods serve as self-contained bedrooms, each with a private deck, indoor sitting area and bathroom. The fourth is currently set up as a rumpus space, but could easily be used as a study, teenager’s retreat or guest bedroom.
The final pod houses a full-size laundry, complete with underfloor heating, designer tiling and two-pack cabinetry. There’s a handy storage shed attached with separate access.
Wrap-around decks bring all six buildings together and create a resort-like feel outdoors.
“There are lots of little thoughtful features that encourage a life close to nature,” Pat says.
“Large windows throughout the property bring in beautiful dappled light, and when you stand on the deck, you get a 210-degree view through the trees to the ocean.
“There’s even a hot and cold outdoor shower so you can bathe under the stars.”
The house is equipped with an extensive sprinkler system, two petrol fire pumps and a separate static water supply for extra fire protection.
Birdlife here is abundant and thriving. Visitors can expect to share the forest with yellow-tailed black cockatoos, wrens, satin bowerbirds, the occasional lyrebird, and even the elusive tawny frogmouth.
Echidnas are frequent visitors, and during migration on a calm evening, the songs of passing whales float through the bush.

Rosedale House features direct pathways to the quiet shores of nearby Tranquil Bay, Nuns Beach, and Rosedale Beach.
A short drive south brings visitors to Tomakin, Mossy Point and Broulee for dining, retail and groceries.
Pat says the property is not only beautiful and comfortable but also defined by unmatched privacy. It could be enjoyed as a holiday home or permanent residence.
“You get such a sense of seclusion here. You’re tucked away in your own little world, yet town amenities are conveniently close,” she says.
“Rosedale is a very tightly held community. It’s not uncommon for families and friends to share or pass down properties between them, and with South Coast hamlets becoming more dense every year, properties like this are increasingly rare.”
Rosedale House at 48 Tranquil Bay Place, Rosedale, is priced at $3,500,000. For more information, contact Pat Jameson on 0405 442 905.
