Truck driver dies in early morning crash on South Coast highway

A man has died in an early morning single-vehicle crash on a major highway in the state’s south.

A NSW Police spokesperson said that at about 4 am this morning (14 March), emergency services were called to Snowy Mountains Highway at Bemboka following reports of a crash.

On arrival, officers attended and performed CPR on the male driver of a truck before NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived.

However, the man, believed to be aged in his 30s, died at the scene.

Following the incident, a crime scene was established.

Officers from the South Coast Police District have started inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Snowy Mountains Highway was blocked both north and southbound for some time while emergency services remained at the scene of the crash.

Region understands the road fully re-opened shortly before 11 am.

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
