Three men will front court after a kangaroo was allegedly assaulted in Merimbula.
In a statement, NSW Police said the alleged incident took place over the weekend.
“About 9 am on Saturday (22 July), police will allege, three men grabbed and repeatedly assaulted a kangaroo on Main Street, Merimbula.”
The kangaroo managed to flee.
Police also allege that one of the men kicked the glass door of a laundromat on Market Street, Merimbula.
Once they were made aware of the alleged events, officers from the South Coast Police District began their investigation.
This resulted in the issuing of court attendance notices to three men – aged 18, 19, and 22 – for the offence of committing an act of cruelty upon an animal.
The youngest man is also charged with destroying or damaging property.
All three are due to appear before Bega Local Court on 12 September.
