Is your calendar looking a bit bare the next few days? Here we bring you the best of what’s happening across the area. There’s bound to be something to suit your mood or your interest.

Enjoy This Trip – The art of music posters

When: 4 to 10 April, during normal gallery hours
Where: Goulburn Regional Art Gallery, Civic Centre, 184 Bourke Street, Goulburn
Cost: Free.

The 60s through to the 80s saw an explosion in the creativity of music posters and this art exhibition draws from the National Gallery’s extensive collection from this era. Art, typography, colouring and design come together in a nostalgic display of an iconic time in music.

KINDLING: Kil.n.it Experimental Ceramics Studio and Far South Coast artists’ exchange

When: 4 to 10 April, during normal gallery hours
Where: South East Centre for Contemporary Art, Zingel Pl, Bega
Cost: Free.

Kindling features the works of a select group of ceramics artists from studios across the state who participated in an exchange in 2024 to create connections and explore styles and techniques in ceramics.

The focus of the exchange was on wood-fired ceramics and a variety of experimental art pieces are on display that show the incredible things that can be done in the field, with many innovative pieces that’ll make you wonder just how they did it.

Stomp Festival – Celebration of local wines and produce

When: 5 and 6 April, 10 am to 4 pm

Celebrate the great wine producers in the region with the Stomp Festival, a must-visit autumn event where wineries and the people who make them invite you into their world.

Become a winemaker for a day and experience what it takes to make every delicious drop; indulge yourself in chocolate tasting workshops; set up a picnic and listen to some live music; treat yourself to wine tastings; and take part in the titular wine stomping, where you can enjoy a tradition that goes back centuries.

Dolly – I Will Always Love You

When: 4 April, 7:30 to 10 pm
Where: Goulburn Performing Arts Centre, 163 Auburn Street, Goulburn
Cost: Tickets from $35 – $59.

Celebrate the music of country music icon Dolly Parton at this tribute show that captures the heart and energy of one of country’s leading ladies.

Brooke McMullen and her band will take audiences through the career of Dolly, charting her early days in Tennessee all the way to her globe-trotting success.

Whether you’re a country music faithful or a novice in the culture, everyone loves Dolly.

Nurse Georgie Carroll

After winning ‘Best Comedy Show’ at the Adelaide Fringe Festival and touring across the UK, New Zealand and Australia, Nurse Georgie Carroll comes to Batemans Bay to deliver a night of laughs and a few moments of medically induced cringing in her one-woman stand-up show.

A Day Retreat – Journey Into Your Personal Ecology

Reset and slow down at this full-day retreat all about immersing yourself in a nurturing and calm environment where you can put the worries of the daily rush behind you.

Starting the day with gentle movements, tea and connection with other participants, you’ll be invited to think of the ecology and symbolism of trees and how we can learn from them in our own lives by being more grounded and still.

The retreat will then move onto guided meditation in the forest, where the soft sounds of the bush will realign you with the outdoors. Then drawing activities will help you express yourself and set the stage for a new outlook on life.

Gyotaku Printmaking – With Sally Black

When: 5 April, 10 am to 3 pm
Where: Yass Valley Anglican Church Hall, 17 Church Street, Yass
Cost: $150.

Gyotaku is a traditional Japanese printing technique used by fisherman to record the size of their catches, providing a 1:1 scale representation of the size of a fish (far more reliable than saying it was thiiiis big). Participants will learn the technique by making imprints of both real and imitation fish using sumi ink on rice paper.

If you want to up your fishing game by incorporating a time-honoured method of bragging or just have fun and learn a bit of obscure Japanese culture, this is for you.

All materials, including fresh fish and morning tea are provided, but please bring an apron.

The Australian Bee Gees Show

Where: 253 Crawford Street, Queanbeyan
Cost: $75.

With more than 6500 appearances in more than 55 countries, The Australian Bee Gees Show has been amazing crowds with its talent and energy for 24 years. When the members are not performing in their Vegas residency, they’re touring around the world and this Thursday they’re coming to Queanbeyan for one night, performing the Bee Gees’ greatest hits such as More Than A Woman, Night Fever, Stayin’ Alive and How Do You Mend A Broken Heart.
