The search for a missing boater on the NSW Far South Coast has been called off.
Emergency services were called when an unmanned vessel washed up at Haywards Beach near Bermagui on Tuesday afternoon (12 December), prompting a multi-day search.
In a statement issued shortly after 2:50 pm today (14 December), a NSW Police spokesperson said the multi-agency search would be suspended.
“Officers from the South Coast Police District responded and commenced an extensive search of the water and surrounding area, with assistance from Marine Area Command, Surf Life Savers, State Emergency Services and the Westpac Helicopter,” they said.
“Despite an extensive search of the water and surrounding land, the 60-year-old man from Victoria was not located, and the search was suspended at 1 pm today.”
