With end-of-year celebrations looking a little different for many people this year, Snowy Monaro Regional Council’s Community Connections groups will be celebrating the upcoming holiday season with a final ‘surprise’ community project.
The groups will be creating small gifts and leaving them in random locations across the region to be found by members of the community.
Research has found that random acts of kindness can have a ripple effect, uplifting not only the giver and recipient but also anyone who witnesses or hears about it.
As 2020 comes to an end, Snowy Monaro Regional Council’s Community Connections groups have also been reflecting on the past year. While it has been a difficult time, mainly due to bushfires and COVID-19, with many usual events and outings cancelled, they adjusted to new ways of doing things, whether it was staying in touch via teleconference calls, working on individual craft or gardening projects at home, and working on community projects, such as yarnbombing installations, the groups have embraced different ways to stay connected and brighten the day of others in our community.
As COVID-19 restrictions continue to ease, the Snowy Monaro Regional Council’s Community Connections Groups are planning more exciting activities and outings in 2021.
