Police officer charged over alleged shopping centre assaults of teenagers, woman

A police officer is facing charges over the alleged assaults of four people while on duty last year.

A NSW Police spokesperson said a senior constable attached to the Southern Region, allegedly assaulted three teenagers and a woman while police were attending an incident at a Batemans Bay shopping centre.

The two teenagers were aged 13 and 17, while the woman was aged 47.

Following an investigation, the officer was issued a court attendance notice for four counts of common assault on Thursday (7 November).

He is scheduled to face Batemans Bay Local Court on 25 November.

The officer is currently suspended with pay.
