A police investigation is underway after an armed robbery in the peaceful and picturesque village of Dalmeny, north of Narooma.

Shortly before 6 pm on Monday (August 20), a man entered the local supermarket on Mort Street, armed with a knife.

He threatened a staff member and demanded money and cigarettes.

The female employee complied and handed the man cash and cigarettes before he ran from the store.

Thankfully, no one was injured during the robbery.

Officers from South Coast Police District were called and have commenced inquiries.

The man is described as being about 185 cm tall, aged in his 30s and wearing dark clothing, an eyewitness has told About Regional that the man’s face had been covered during the robbery, but wasn’t as he fled the scene.

Two days later she says she is still shaking after seeing the situation unfold.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
