There are plenty of events to put you in the Christmas spirit this week.

With events spanning across the South Coast, the Sapphire Coast, Queanbeyan and Googong, we have something for everyone to enjoy, especially if you love to listen to Christmas carols, attend Christmas-themed markets, watch theatre shows, listen to live music performances and watch cars race.

Christmas on Imlay – Late-Night Shopping

When: Friday, 9 December, from 5:30 – 8 pm
Where: Imlay Street, Eden
Cost: Free entry.

A family-friendly, late-night shopping evening is coming to Eden.

From 5:30 to 7:30, enjoy a visit and photos from Santa, and till 8, enjoy an array of market stalls and food vendors selling some of the best Eden has to offer.

There will also be plenty of entertainment for everyone, including live music performances, kids’ activities, woodchopping, face painting and a famous chocolate wheel. A Christmas stocking raffle will also be drawn, so make sure you spend at least $5 to go in the running.

Xmas Celebrations at The Hive with two great bands

When: Friday, 9 December, 6 – 9 pm
Where: The Queanbeyan Hive
Cost: Tickets are from $10 and can be purchased here.

Taking place at The Queanbeyan Hive is a special performance by two unique bands – The Filthy Darlings and Ana Key & The Underdogs.

Ana Key & The Underdogs is made up of Ana Key on vocals, Ole Nielsen on guitar, Keith Joliffe on bass and Stephen Deakin on drums. Their repertoire extends from lyrical to rock, blues and post-punk.

The Filthy Darlings are a quadraphonic aural extravaganza known for swooning and melting the hearts of their audiences with their classical and contemporary music, combined with meta, wood and rock music.

The Honorbread Little Market

When: Saturday, 10 December
Where: 8 Bunga Street, Bermagui
Cost: Free entry.

If you’re after a place to grab fresh produce from local growers, gluten-free bread, baked goods, preserves, pickles, seasonal fruit and vegetables and more, head to The Honorbread Little Market in Bermagui.

In the courtyard next to the Honorbread Bakery in Bermagui, you’ll also find a variety of crafts, ceramics and woodwork for sale.

In addition, there’s live music by local artists for everyone to enjoy.

Googong Christmas Carols and Markets

When: Saturday, 10 December, 5 to 8 pm
Where: Bunyip Park, Wellsvale Drive, Googong
Cost: Free entry.

It’s been a long three years, but the annual Googong Christmas Carols event is back in 2022, with a new addition, the Googong Christmas Markets.

This event welcomes locals and interstate visitors to enjoy an evening of Christmas classics with performances from the Canberra City Band.

Santa will also be making an appearance, as will the Jerrabomberra Creek Rural Fire Service, and plenty of market stalls will help get your Christmas gift shopping underway.

People are encouraged to bring a picnic or buy from the local food vendors on the day.

Goulburn Speedway Race Night

When: Saturday, 10 December, 4 – 10 pm
Where: Goulburn Speedway, Speedway Rd, Goulburn
Cost: Entry from $12, see prices here.

A race night is coming to the Goulburn Speedway and you’re invited to come and watch all the action.

The event will feature plenty of speedway cars, junior sedans, LT sprints, limited sedans, GPs, fender benders, formula 500s legend cars, dwarf cars, stock rods, modified productions, compact speed cars and more.

If you like cars, you’ll love this event, so grab your tickets to ensure you don’t miss out.

Pure Diamond – A tribute to the music of Neil Diamond

When: Saturday, 10 December, from 7 pm
Where: Braidwood Servicemen’s Club and Golf Course,15 Victory Street, Braidwood
Cost: Tickets are $25, and can be purchased here.

Braidwood Servicemen’s Club is hosting a special performance by Pure Diamond, a tribute to the music of Neil Diamond, this Saturday.

American singer-songwriter Neil Diamond has sold more than 130 million records worldwide and is known as one of the best musicians of all time. On Saturday night, prepare to hear some of his greatest hits performed by Pure Diamond, including Sweet Caroline, Cracklin’ Rosie, America, and Love on the Rocks.

This event is great for getting the family together and welcomes people of all ages to grab a meal and sit back, relax and enjoy the music of Neil Diamond.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears

When: Thursday to Sunday, 15 – 18 December, multiple shows
Where: The Q Theatre, Queanbeyan.
Cost: Tickets are from $18, and can be purchased here.

Come along to The Q Theatre in Queanbeyan and prepare to be taken back to your childhood as the classic tale of Goldilocks and the Three Bears is hitting the stage.

You’ll be charmed, surprised, entertained and delighted by this beautiful tale of friendship, forgiveness, apology and acceptance, which is perfect for zero to eight-year-olds. After the show, kids are welcome to meet the cast and grab photos.

Christmas Carols in the Park

Cost: Free.

There’s no better way to get into the Christmas spirit than getting together with your family and friends and listening to classic Christmas carols.

With plenty of entertainment to be enjoyed, including performances by local musicians, free family activities, special performances and a visit from Santa, there’s so much to do. This is an all-ages, fun and free event. All are welcome to come along and enjoy themselves.

Yass Valley Christmas Parade

When: Thursday, 15 December, 4 – 9 pm
Where: Comur Street, Yass, NSW
Cost: Free.

The highly anticipated regional Christmas parade of the year is back! Always a roaring success, the Yass Valley Christmas Parade promises to be no different this year. With late-night shopping, a snowball photo booth, a petting zoo and a pop-up Christmas movie screening at Banjo Paterson Park from 8 pm, this is a great way to get all your Christmas shopping done in one night.
