A man overdue after a hike on the main range of Kosciuszko National Park has been found safe and well.
On Wednesday (June 12), the 44-year-old man from Queensland set off by himself to walk the main range track.
He intended to walk from Charlotte Pass Village to Blue Lake, along the ridge to the summit of Mt Kosciuszko and then camp at Seaman’s Hut overnight.
Concern for his welfare was raised when he failed to return by 10 am yesterday (June 13).
Around 8 pm yesterday, two Alpine Operations Unit operators from NSW Police were deployed using over snow transport to Seaman’s Hut. A subsequent search of the area failed to find any trace of the man.
However, just after 12 pm today (June 14) the man was found near Charlotte Pass in a combined search effort involving Monaro Police, NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service and the NSW State Emergency Service
