Man charged over fatal Lake Albert crash

A man will face court after a rider died following a two-vehicle crash in the Riverina last month.

About 5:20 pm on Wednesday 20 November 2024, emergency services were called to Kooringal Road, Lake Albert, following reports a motorcycle and truck had collided.

The 64-year-old male rider was treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, where he later died.

The 33-year-old male driver was taken to the same hospital for mandatory testing under police guard. He was released from the hospital.

Following extensive inquiries, about 1 pm on Monday 30 December 2024, police arrested the 33-year-old man in the Wagga Wagga area.

He was charged with negligent driving (occasioning death) and not give way to vehicle when entering roundabout.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday 26 February 2025.
