Man approaches 5-year-old girl outside Queanbeyan school

Police are appealing to the community for information after a child was approached outside a school in Queanbeyan on Monday afternoon (3 September).

Around 3:15 pm, a man approached a five-year-old girl at a bus stop outside a school on Alanbar Street. The man spoke to her but did not touch her.

When the girl’s mother saw the incident and approached her daughter, the man quickly left the area. The mother reported the incident to officers from the Monaro Police District yesterday.

Investigators have been told the man was between 30 and 40 years old, about 175-180cm tall and with a medium build. He had a tanned complexion and dark brown hair.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing an olive-green jacket and dark pants.
