As Jindabyne’s population continues to grow and the region solidifies itself as a year-round tourism destination, the region’s paramedics will receive a shot in the arm with the Jindabyne Ambulance Station refurbishment set to commence later this year.
NSW Deputy Premier and Member for Monaro John Barilaro said the significant investment as part of the NSW Government’s $232 million Rural Ambulance Infrastructure Reconfiguration (RAIR) program will ensure local paramedics can continue to deliver high-quality care to communities across the Snowy Mountains.
“It is absolutely crucial our local emergency services have the resources they need now and into the future,” he said.
“These upgrades are a win for paramedics, ambulance staff and the community.
“By providing a more modern facility for our wonderful paramedics, we can ensure they can continue to best serve the community of Jindabyne.”
Work will include new roller shutters; plant room and station improvements; new staff amenities; and internal upgrades to rooms.
NSW Minister for Health Brad Hazzard said work will commence later this year following a competitive tender process.
“The NSW Government is committed to investing in rural and regional health infrastructure to support better health outcomes for local communities,” he said.
“Our paramedics need the best possible workplace to provide emergency medical care, and these infrastructure improvements will make a real difference to their working environment.”
