Investigations begin after boater dies crossing Narooma Bar

A man has died and a woman was rescued after a boat capsized on the South Coast earlier today, 5 April.

About 11:25 am, emergency services were called to Narooma Bar following reports a small boat had capsized attempting to enter the harbour with a man and a woman onboard.

A woman, believed to be aged in her 60s, was rescued from the water by a passing boat. She was taken to Moruya Hospital for further treatment.

A man, believed to be aged in his 70s, was removed from the water by Marine Rescue personnel and taken to a nearby beach, where NSW Ambulance Paramedics performed CPR but were unable to revive him.

Officers from South Coast Police District and the Marine Area Command have begun investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
