In Bubba's memory: Motorsports tour driven to put on epic antics late co-founder would have loved

Adrenaline junkies and motorsport enthusiasts are set to have their prayers answered as the Daredevils Motorsports Tour revs into Wagga Wagga this weekend.

With monster trucks, jet cars, demolition derbies, and flips and tricks galore set to flood the Wagga Showground this Saturday (23 March), there is no better time to experience the controlled mayhem of extreme motorsports.

Legendary motor stuntman and one of the founders of the Daredevils Motorsports Tour, Troy Garcia, said he was champing at the bit to showcase the ”crazy stuff” he and the team were ready to show.

“The Daredevils Tour is a new concept,” Troy explained.

“It’s only been happening around 12 months. Me and one of my good mates from the Crusty Demons, we sat down and we brainstormed a few ideas.

“We eventually were able to get a few shows to kick off the tour in 2023. Everything went really well so we decided to do a replay of that and do it all again this year.”

Troy’s partner in crime and co-founder of the motorsports tour was the late James Chiasson, known to Crusty Demons fans simply as Bubba.

After a successful first tour in 2023, Bubba decided to make a short trip back to the US, but tragically died in December due to unforeseen medical complications.

“The show now is in remembrance of a really close friend of mine,” Troy said.

“A lot of people in the extreme sports industry remember Bubba for his crazy antics, everyone who is a part of the tour loved him and we know that he’d love for this show to keep going and keep growing.”

Bubba has long been considered one of the pioneers of freestyle motocross and although both he and Troy were getting older, they were as keen as ever to put on an awesome show.

“We all get older and with that, there’s less participation in the show,” Troy said.

“In saying that, Bubba was always keen to meet and greet fans and do a bit of commentary. For me, being able to do this, it feels like we’re continuing his legacy.”

The Daredevils Motorsports Tour is gradually building a reputation for its insane yet extremely enjoyable antics.

As the promotion’s reputation grows, Troy still firmly believes that the main goal is to provide a fun time for kids and their families.

“There’s a certain wow factor about seeing the jet car take off, or a monster truck spin upside down,” he said.

“It’s so cool to see the sheer size of everything, but for me, it has always been about making people happy and making people smile.

”Seeing a smile on a kid’s face while they’re watching something they wouldn’t normally see, it’s such an awesome feeling because you just know that they’ve made a happy memory and that’s all you can ask for.”

While talking to Troy, he gave away some of the cool events he believes people will enjoy the most during the tour.

“For me, the standout is seeing the jet car when it goes into a sonic boom. The build-up to it is so cool. It goes from people laughing to creating that ‘wow factor’ real quick.

“We’ve got a unique character, Psycho Sam. When he’s rolling his car upside down, that’s always a good time. Kids always enjoy seeing that.”

Troy is encouraging anyone curious about extreme motorsports to come down and enjoy the day as he promises they won’t forget the experience.

“There’s such a different feeling seeing and hearing cars and bikes in person,” he said.

“It’s so different to seeing it on social media. It’s loud, it’s hyperactive and it’s so much fun.”

The Daredevils Motorsports Tour will kick off at 2:30 pm at the Wagga Showground on Saturday (23 March). Tickets for this one-time show can be purchased at the gates from 2 pm on the day or online here.
