Feeling artistic? Yass might just be the place to express your interest and invest in art from local and interstate artists.
Last month, Tyger Gallery hosted New Zealand artist Kate Cox’s latest exhibition, ‘Daydreamers Conference’, which was a raging success.
Tyger Gallery owner Martyn Pearce says the exhibition brought plenty of people to the gallery.
“We had people come from all over the place to come and see the exhibition,” Martyn says.
The gallery is now gearing up for its latest venture, showing off the work of Yass artist Judith Perkins in her latest exhibition, ‘New Beginnings’.
Martyn says the gallery can’t wait to have her work displayed at the gallery.
“We are absolutely thrilled to showcase the work of this brilliantly talented regional artist,” Martyn says.
“The 15 works in New Beginnings are a collection of soft pastel landscapes and nature scenes, with many landscapes that people will recognise.
“Australian landscapes and scenes of Yass Valley are a favourite theme of Judith’s in this exhibition, contrasting the harshness of the Australian country, capturing the strength to face those challenges, and demonstrating the recovery and resilience process.
“The paintings are beautiful, warm and engaging, with a lovely eye for detail and colour. On top of that, they are all at a really good price, so they’re perfect as gifts for others or yourself.
“Tyger Gallery is so pleased to be able to support and encourage the best artists from around the region.”
Martyn says he strongly encourages people to attend the show to support the talented local artist.
The exhibition opened on 7 June and will run until 16 June at 84 Comur St, Yass.
Tyger Gallery is just one of the three major spaces that bring in thousands of people every year to marvel at the beauty (and maybe even purchase) one of the masterpieces that come through the Yass Valley Region.
Good Hope Pottery is a regional showcase for highlighting the unique work of local and interstate pottery artists.
Its latest instalment, ‘The Teapot Project’ by Danielle Cattell, has given gallery attendees a wealth of knowledge about making stunning teapots.
As an artist and a potter, Danielle has been designing functional pottery pieces for about three years now. The Teapot Project is bringing together her skill set as a potter to make beautiful teapots that are both functional and beautiful.
Sutton Village Gallery‘s latest addition, ‘Sanctuary’, is showing off the work of Ellie Young and her work in hand-printed photographs.
The exhibition illuminates a diverse range of perspectives on the concept of ‘sanctuary’ portrayed through the handcrafted photograph. By utilising unique printing techniques, the artists pay homage to the roots of photography and the craftsmanship involved in creating each image.
