New potential COVID-19 exposure sites have been released for Goulburn, with four cases recorded in the reporting period to 8 pm yesterday.

Two of the cases are linked to known infections but the other two are still under investigation.

There were no other cases recorded in the southern health district yesterday but the Murrumbidgee Local Health District had three – two in Albury and one in the Hilltops Local Government Area. Cowra recorded a further two cases.

A full list of venues of concern in the MLHD can be found here.

The new exposure sites in Goulburn are:

  • Bakers Delight, Goulburn Square, 22 September 2:15 pm to 3 pm;
  • Woolworths, Sloane Street, 22 September 7:15 pm to 8:15 pm;
  • Coles, corner Auburn Street and Clifford Street, 18 September 2:15 pm to 3 pm, 19 September 2:35 pm to 3:25 pm, 23 September 11:45 am to 1 pm;
  • Coles Express, South Goulburn, 23 September 2:45 pm to 3:25 pm;
  • Blooms Chemist, 13 September 11:30 am to 12:15 pm.

Anyone who visited one of these venues at the times listed is a casual contact and must immediately get tested and isolate until a negative result is received. Staff will be contacted separately by SNSWLHD’s Public Health Unit regarding their testing and isolation requirements.

SNSWLHD is urging the Eden community to get tested with even the mildest of COVID-19 symptoms following the detection of fragments of the virus in the local sewage system in the past 48 hours.

There are no confirmed COVID-19 cases in Eden but health authorities are concerned the presence of these fragments could signal undetected cases in the community. This is the third detection at the Eden sewage treatment plant, which serves about 3000 people.

Bega Valley Shire Mayor Russell Fitzpatrick said undetected COVID-19 cases within the Bega Valley Shire remained a strong possibility.

“As more fragments are found across the shire, the possibility of there being unknown local cases increases,” Cr Fitzpatrick said.

“If you live in Eden or the surrounding areas, or in fact anywhere in the shire, and you have the slightest hint of cold-like symptoms, you need to get tested.

“This means if you are experiencing symptoms such as headache, nausea, sore throat, runny nose, cough, loss of smell or taste, or fever, you must get tested and isolate until a negative result is received.”

Council is sending samples from the sewage treatment plants in Eden, Bermagui, Merimbula and Bega, twice weekly to NSW Health for testing.
