There’s a new farmer looking for love and he lives two hours from Canberra.

Farmer Rob – a 40-year-old sheep and cattle farmer from the beautiful Snowy Mountains in NSW – is hoping for a second shot at love and is in with a chance as one of the successful applicants for the 2021 season of Farmer Wants a Wife.

The single father of two – an eight-year-old girl and 10-year-old boy – describes himself as an “easy-going country bloke” who is very happy with his life but wants the love of his life by his side on the farm.

“I’m highly driven, love my work and love to make the most of life … I’d love the lightning bolt to strike again and find that true love. It’s happened before in my life and I’m sure it can happen again … I’m looking for someone who is happy with their life, I’m not trying to make someone else happy, I’m in the game to make someone happier,” he says.

Like Crookwell’s farmer Neil from the last season of Farmer Wants a Wife, Rob is the oldest of the six farmers chosen for the next season on Channel 7 and was previously engaged to the mother of his children.

However, farmer Rob never got around to getting married and says he is “open to the possibility of having more children if/when I fall in love with the right person”.

“I’m not set in my ways by any means,” he said. “The thought of calling someone my wife puts a smile on my face because I’ve never been able to do that.”

The other contestants include farmer Matt, 26, from Orbost in Victoria; farmer Andrew, 30, from Delegate in NSW; farmer Sam, 24, from Canowindra in NSW; farmer Will, 39, from Longwood in Victoria; and farmer Peter, 29, from Kingaroy in Queensland.

Farmer Rob says if his future wife is going to join him on the farm, she needs to be “a happy woman who is optimistic about the future, hardworking, confident, adventurous and loving”.

Above all, farmer Rob wants someone he can trust.

“Trust is vitally important in a relationship. Without trust, you’re building a relationship on shoddy foundations,” he said.

As for what farmer Rob can bring to a relationship, he lists his sense of humour and adventure, his big smiley face and outlook on life.

“I would like to think I’m a caring person in a relationship, never boring and always looking for a laugh,” he said.

He says his philosophy on love is that “it is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all”.

A life with farmer Rob would involve a lot of time outside and watching comedy according to his interests, which also include horse riding, training dogs, fishing, camping, reading and tending to his vegetable garden.

Rob says his favourite movie is The Big Steal and his favourite musicians include Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash and Paul Kelly.

If you or someone you know is a single lady looking to meet the love of their life, the show is looking for women to apply.

Farmer Rob had this final message for any woman thinking of applying: “I can promise it won’t be boring! The world is an amazing place full of opportunities and adventures and I intend on making the most of them. I’m ready to find the love of my life to share the adventure with.”

A date is yet to be confirmed for the release for the 2021 season.

My heart skipped a beat reading about farmer Rob. He is my kinda guy. Unfortunately I’m not an Australian citizen. I’m from the USA and not eligible to apply. I look forward to seeing more about him when the show airs. Thank goodness for the internet.

Thank goodness for the internet.

Good luck to farmer Rob…if I wasn’t 57 I would apply to the show to see if he liked me
