The Eurobodalla’s growing network of cycleways is one of the shire’s best assets and during NSW Bike Week the community is being invited to celebrate and perhaps rediscover these paved paths of fun and health.
Eurobodalla Shire Council’s Recreation Coordinator Mathew Neason says whether it’s been two weeks or 22 years since you were last on a bike, this Sunday’s FREE community bike ride is the perfect time to reconnect with an old passion or build a new habit.
“With spectacular views along the coast, the ride will travel along the Dalmeny shared pathway,” he says
“We’ll have experienced riders from EuroBUG – the shire’s cycling group, leading the charge.”
Registration opens at 9 am for the 10 am ride this Sunday (September 29). Mr Neason says the event is suitable for all ages and skill levels.
“From Rotary Park we’ll cycle up to Kianga Point and back for a 13 kilometre round trip,” he explains.
“Or choose the shorter ride – up to Binalong Street and back, a fun four kilometres. Either way, don’t forget your helmet, water bottle and sunscreen.”
Last year’s ride along the Clyde River at Batemans Bay was a huge success and this year’s ride is looking even better, “the event is free and kids under 14 years need to be accompanied by an adult,” Mr Neason says.
“There will be free bike-safety checks and other giveaways.
“Most of all it’s a great way to reconnect with nature and with the community.”
