Bridgeworks that have closed the Princes Highway north of Bega on some nights over the last two weeks have been completed ahead of schedule with the remaining plans for night closures scrapped.
Motorists have been juggling the closures each Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights on Dry River Bridge at Quaama since August 4, further closures are no longer necessary. Vehicle access across the bridge will stay open.
“The bearing replacement work carried out during road closures has finished and additional closures planned for next week are no longer required,” a Transport for NSW spokesperson says.
“Remaining general maintenance work on the bridge will continue on weekdays until late September, weather permitting.
“Motorists are advised to check electronic message boards for updates.
“Traffic control, single-lane closures and a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h will be in place at all times for the safety of workers and motorists.
“Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, follow the directions of signs and traffic control and allow up to 15 minutes additional travel time.
“Transport for NSW thanks the community for its patience while work is carried out.”
