Police allegedly chased a stolen luxury car as it sped down the Kings Highway, before the driver tried to escape officers on foot.
Officers were on patrol on Monday morning (31 March) when they spotted an allegedly stolen Mercedes on Clyde Mountain near Black Flat Road in Currowan, a NSW South Coast Police District spokesperson said.
When the officers tried to pull the car over, it allegedly sped off.
A pursuit was initiated, during which the Mercedes was allegedly driven on the wrong side of the road.
Police deployed road spikes and the Mercedes came to a stop on the Kings Highway in Nelligen, but the driver then allegedly got out of the car and tried to run from the scene.
He was arrested after a short chase on foot.
Officers allegedly found he was carrying a pocket knife when they searched him.
