The design of the Moruya Bypass is underway after the NSW South Coast community recently gave its views.

Feedback was sought from the community on the location, design and potential social, economic and environmental impacts of the bypass.

“The community consultation report is an important step in the ongoing consultation process for this project and we’re now using this feedback to help identify a preferred option,” said Member for Bega Andrew Constance.

Engineering firm Arup will partner with Transport for NSW to prepare the strategic design for the preferred option, which will be presented to the community for further feedback later in the year.

The bypass was promised by the NSW Government as part of its $1.5 billion commitment to upgrade the Princes Highway between Nowra and the Victorian border.

“The new bypass will bust congestion for motorists and freight operators travelling through the picturesque NSW South Coast, creating a better and more reliable highway for all users, particularly during peak holiday periods,” said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack.

As well as progressing the Moruya Bypass, the NSW Government is also moving ahead with upgrades to the intersection of Jervis Bay Road and Princes Highway, and the Milton Ulladulla Bypass, said Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Paul Toole.

“All three projects will ensure safer, faster and more reliable journeys along the NSW South Coast,” said Mr Toole.
