If you have purchased a tub of coleslaw at Woolworths recently, it’s time to check the refrigerator.

Woolworths is recalling the product due to the potential presence of salmonella, which can cause headaches, fever, stomach cramps, diarrhoea, nausea and vomiting.

Symptoms often start six to 72 hours after infection and usually last for four to seven days, sometimes much longer.

Consumers should check for Woolworths Coleslaw 110g, 250g, 400g and 800g (ID 793406, 546843, 382779 and 311534) with Use By Dates up to and including 21 January.

The recall only affects products with a site code represented by the letter ‘S’ after the Use By date code sold in Woolworths Supermarkets and Metro stores in the ACT, NSW, and some Woolworths Supermarkets in regional Victoria.

A Woolworths spokesperson said consumers should return the product to their nearest Woolworths Supermarket or Metro for a full refund. Any customers concerned about their health should seek medical advice.

“Customers should note that this recall applies to the above product with Use By Dates up to and including 21 January only and no other products are affected by this recall,” the spokesperson said.

“Woolworths takes product safety seriously and apologises for any inconvenience caused by this recall. Customers can call the toll-free customer service number for more information on 1800 103 515.”
