The alarm bells around a Dalmeny aged care facility have stopped ringing with the Department of Health formally closing their review process.
IRT Group CEO Patrick Reid has advised residents, family members and employees of IRT Dalmeny that the aged care centre has returned to full compliance.
The centre which cares for around 50 people was brought into question earlier this year when it failed to meet a number of accreditation standards. As a result, the Department of Health placed a six-month sanction on the centre and pointed to areas of improvement needed.
Under the terms of the sanction, IRT Dalmeny was not able to admit new residents, had to provide additional training to employees and appoint a Clinical Advisor and an Administrator to oversee the implementation of a Plan for Continuous Improvement.
“The team at IRT Dalmeny has worked extremely hard to make the necessary improvements within the required timeframe,” Mr Reid says.
“We’re very appreciative for everyone’s dedication to providing excellent person-centred care and for the support of our employees, residents and their families during this period.”
The sanction expired on August 15 and IRT Dalmeny met all accreditation standards during a site visit by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission on September 17.
