A severe weather warning for damaging winds has been issued today (16 July) for parts of the Southern Tablelands north-east and east of Canberra, including Goulburn and Braidwood.
According to the warning issued by the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM), winds averaging 60 to 70 km/h, with gusts over 90 km/h, are possible from this afternoon.
The damaging winds are due to a deep low-pressure system south of the bight, which is slowly moving east over the next couple of days, the BOM said.
“A series of troughs and cold fronts associated with this low are forecast to cross southeast Australia during this period, bringing a vigorous west to northwesterly airflow to the region, particularly today and Saturday,” it said.

For the ACT, wet weather is expected to hang around tomorrow, with showers and a chance of another thunderstorm before clearing up slightly on Sunday.
Temperatures will struggle to hit double digits over the weekend. A top of 10 degrees is forecast today, 8 degrees tomorrow and 11 on Sunday.
There is also a chance of showers on Monday and Tuesday, with maximums of 10 and minimums of between -1 and 1 degrees, respectively.
